What does B.A.V.I.A. stand for?

B.A.V.I.A. is an acronym for ‘Blind and Visually Impaired Association’ which is the support group run by The Gold Coast Blind and Visually Impaired Association Inc.

Does B.A.V.I.A. have memberships?

Yes, annual memberships fall due on the commencement of the calendar year. No pro-rata is available.

There is no casual memberships available.

What types of memberships are available?

Full membership is available to blind or visually impaired people and includes voting rights.Associate memberships do not have voting rights.

How much is Membership?

Full membership is $10.00 per year.
Associate membership is $10.00 per year.

We invite you to come along for free on your first visit.
Membership is mandatory for ongoing participation.

Are there any additional costs?

There is a $5 weekly contribution towards administration and maintenance costs.

Monthly outing prices vary from $15 – $30 depending on venues.

Transport is available at an additional cost – Price on application.

Where and when do you meet?

B.A.V.I.A. meets at Bavia House, 14 Kalimna Drive, Broadbeach Waters.

B.A.V.I.A. meets once a week on a Wednesday from 9am-1pm . 

B.A.V.I.A. also meets on fridays for a social drop in service

How do I get to Bavia House?

Transport can be arranged  – limited area & price on application.
Free parking is available if utilising your own transport.

Where can I find out what’s on at Bavia House?

  • The first Wednesday in the month we celebrate the birthdays for the month 
  • The third Wednesday in the month we have an outing.
  • Every other Wednesday we welcome Entertainers to Bavia House or we have games and trivia in the hall.
  • The last Wednesday in the month we have a sausage sizzle BBQ and an entertainer come in to entertain us .

Is the hall available for hire?

Yes
Preference is given to Community Groups.
